An insider space contained by a bigger one. The interior space can be defined by boundries and edges. This glass-walled space is part of a bigger exterior space.

I like your linear organization image because it is an effective way explaining the concept yet has lots of movement to it. Anyways the pen tool in PS or AI can be used make the lines straight. :)
