Chapter 6 : Proportion and Scale

Golden Section:   It is a proportional order between two parts of a line, or the two dimensions of a plane figure in which the lesser of the two is to the greater as the greater is to the sum of both. This diagram shows the spiral proportion derived from the rectangles ratios of the Golden section

The Orders: It is a proportional system of harmony and beauty through columns and capitals invented by the Greek and developed by the Roman. Harmony is accomplished in the Ionic order through the proportional overlapping central circles that eventually creates a spiral

Renaissance Theories: Everything is arranged according to numbers. Architects at this time believed in the necessity to build on a progressed ratio of numbers in order to accomplished harmonized designs . This diagram shows the ratio of 1:2:1.

The Modular:
The modular is a systematical measurement that dominates length, surfaces and volumes keeping in mind the human scale. Le Corbusier designed this building considering the different levels of activities that could happen in a unit. So he stretched the possibilities of function that might happen, and therefore creates multi-level units. My diagram examine the levels and division he did in a unit

The "Ken": It is a Measuring system developed by the Japanese. It is an absolute measurement that is not only onvolved in the structure but also in the asthmatics.
My diagram shows the repeated unit happening in the flooring and in the wall.

Anthropmetry: It is the study of a human size in different positions and activities and relating that to the space and objects he uses.
The diagram shows human figure communicating with an object and creating nods in each tension point of the human figure.

 Scale:
It is the comparison of a certain size in relation to another.
The diagram shows vertical size relations between group of objects

  1. Your graphic skills have improved, and it's very easy to read now. Anyways, I would avoid using images with watermarks. (the order one )

  2. The scale image is soo cute and fun....It makes you realize you have to put things in perspective..
